MilkCrate had the opportunity to work with Temple University on an important sustainability and education application of our platform. We partner up with Jeffrey Conradi, a Temple University Professor, in order to provide his students in a tourism and hospitality class with a hands on learning experience. The students were given the task to use the MilkCrate app as a platform to design their own app that promoted sustainable tourism in the city of Philadelphia. This allowed the students the ability to populate the app with their own content and ideas that would present and showcase the sustainable tourism opportunities that are found within the city.
The project was a success, engaging the students and putting their brains to work by having them come up with app content that highlighted the opportunities available for tourists that come to Philadelphia to be sustainably engaged. The students were prompted to provide activities that users could interact with, involving them and encouraging them to adopt sustainable habits. The Temple students also listed volunteering opportunities, places in which users could visit, and events that users of the app could participate in. They utilized the app in a way that brought attention to attractions around Philly that support sustainability and actively encourage people to get involved. simulation gave students the chance to think outside of the box when it came to learning about a tool that can be used effectively within the hospitality and tourism industry.
“I think it was a valuable exercise for them to learn about your approach, and have to come up with their own ideas for measurable activities instead of working with pre-populated items. ”
