Rolling Harvest Overview
Rolling Harvest partners with local farmers, making it easy for them to share their fresh, healthy produce with the food-insecure communities in which they live. Their dedicated volunteers help with daily pick-up and delivery schedules from 43 farms and food producers, assist with weekly distributions to more than 60 hunger relief sites, and glean (harvest) directly from their farm partners’ fields.
Transition
MilkCrate developed an app to help volunteers hear about opportunities, track their volunteer hours, and engage with the Rolling Harvest Food Rescue community.
Challenge
Prior to having an app, Rolling Harvest reached out to volunteers through both email and social media. With such a large network of volunteers it was difficult for Rolling Harvest to maintain a successful form of engagement for everyone.
