Solves a real problem

If your lead magnet doesn't solve a real problem that your desired audience has, or if it doesn't give them something they really want, it won't work at all.

Promises a quick win

Your lead magnet should promise (and deliver) one quick win for your desired audience. In other words, it should help them to easily achieve something.

Super Specific

Don't create a lead magnet about something general. The more specific you are about the benefit of your lead magnet, the better it will convert leads.

Quick to Digest

PDF checklists tend to convert really well because they are so quick and easy to digest. eBooks or lengthy reports may make your prospect feel overwhelmed.

High Value

Your lead magnet should have both high perceived value and high actual value.

Instantly Accessible

Your lead magnet will work best if it is something that can be delivered right away. People love instant gratification.

Demonstrates your Expertise

When someone consumes your lead magnet it should demonstrate your expertise or your unique value proposition. This helps turn leads into an engaged audience down the road.

Tools

They are an online graphic design service based here in Greater Philadelphia. Tell them exactly what you want designed, get the ability to communicate directly with your designer and only accept the designs when you are satisfied. Their nonprofit ‘Penji Unlimited’ program is still taking applicants for this year but is closing soon.

LeadQuizzes

We used it to build our assessment, and helped us divide the different leads that were coming into the system, providing personalization. New York Times highest viewed content in 2013 was a quiz. Think BuzzFeed quizzes too.

Zapier

It allows end users to integrate the web applications they use. A zap is a blueprint for a task you want to do over and over. We used it to connect LeadQuizzes to Intercom and then to MailChimp with all data saved and automatically sent.

Intercom

This is an lead or client messaging platform that sits in the bottom right of your website. It can help with acquiring new audience members sending targeted messages based on what pages they view. At MilkCrate we use it mainly to support our clients on our admin website.

CultureWorks

CultureWorks is a management commons for arts, heritage, and creative communities — a platform of space, human capital, and services to help artists not only survive, but flourish. With more than 200 members, including 100+ fiscally sponsored projects, they provide equitable access to management resources, such as fiscal sponsorship and consulting services, for both individuals and organizations.

MailChimp

Everyone knows MailChimp, one great feature you should look into are conditional merge tag blocks. This allows you to only write one email but vary the content based on variables within your audience. MilkCrate used it to have all Assessment Results in one email but display only the result of the taker.

Calendly

Calendly is a meeting scheduler that takes a lot of the back and forth out of the scheduling equation. MilkCrate uses it as a passive way to have leads sign up to talk further about the platform. You can use it for all those tedious phone calls people keep wanting to schedule with you.

Vyond

This is a video making service that provides makes creating animated videos easy and low budget. This can be used as a way to catch attention or inform an audience in a easily digestible manner on a specific topic. MilkCrate uses it for client videos, each client gets one to help inform their audience.
