A Mobile Approach to Proactive Wellness for Veterans
Case Study: VetTriage by Hoplite
Who is Hoplite Resilience Center?
The Hoplite Resilience Center is a nonprofit organization that helps military personnel, veterans, first responders, first care receivers, and their families overcome challenges with regard to mental health. They do this by providing a variety of programs that foster resiliency and overall well-being.
The Challenge
Throughout this engagement, MilkCrate has learned that there are several components that need to be successful to ensure proper veteran and first responder support.
Many veterans experience psychological distress and behavioral health issues as the result of their demanding military life and experiences in combat. First responders face repetitive psychological distress and behavioral health issues as the result of the environments of their work life. Prior to the creation of their new app, called VetTriage, there were no technologies on the market that acted as resources for proactive wellness and mental health for veterans and first responders. They wanted to leverage MilkCrate to provide screening tools or follow up strategies to adequately fulfill this need via a mobile app.
Hoplite also wanted to team up with MilkCrate in an effort to reduce the stigma attached to the act of veterans/first responders seeking help after going through traumatic experiences.

How This App Helps Veterans/First Responders
Tracks Wellness Status: Veterans triage their mood, stressors, and life events to reflect on health and emotional trends. This way veterans can proactively prepare, collect, reflect, and take action about their mental, physical, and social wellbeing.
User Engagement: VetTriage enables veterans to share posts, communicate, connect, and comment on relevant issues. It also allows veterans to enter into a planned program of wellness. As they partake in this campaign, they earn wellness points, enter competitions, and ultimately improve overall attitude and behavior.
Technical Support: A dedicated Hoplite Customer Success Manager will help ensure the long-term success of the app by working with users to ensure that they are receiving the best outcomes.
