About SOWN
SOWN provides innovative solutions so adults 50+ lead independent, healthy lives and age in place in their homes and communities. Their services prevent and reduce isolation, protecting older adults from depression and related serious health consequences. SOWN has encouraged peer learning, as more tech competent grandparents offered to help less-confident participants to download the app and set up their user profiles. We have gotten feedback from the grandparents that they love the Resources section of the app. It’s been helpful for them to have one source they can go to instead of having to do multiple web searches.
SOWN’S Challenges
Amidst the coronavirus pandemic, SOWN wanted to provide adults an opportunity to get connected with other adults by providing peer counseling via phone & in person. Before launching their app, SOWN communicated with adults and volunteers through email and social media. Their new MilkCrate app allows SOWN to make their information more accessible to volunteers and adults to get connected
