About Smith Memorial Playground & Playhouse
Smith Memorial Playground & Playhouse was built in memory of Richard and Sarah Smith’s adult son, Stanfield. It is a nonprofit that serves as a safe place for Philadelphia’s children ages 10 and younger to have unstructured creative play.
Smith Memorial Playground’s Challenge
Prior to having an app, Smith Memorial Playground held all their information on their website but wanted those resources to be more accessible to parents. Before launching their app Smith communicated with parents through email and social media but struggled to engage with parents. Their new MilkCrate app allows Smith to make their information more accessible and to engage with parents.
How MilkCrate Helped Smith Memorial Playground
Smith partnered with MilkCrate to create an app for parents and caregivers to engage with their children as well as to support the nonprofit organization. Parents and caregivers can introduce playful learning to their children from the touch of their phones. The app also includes features for parents and caregivers to support Smith by giving donations, signing up to volunteer, and keeping track of their membership.
