Read by 4th Overview

Read by 4th is a citywide campaign that brings the community together to work towards a shared vision of ensuring that all children will be reading on grade level by the time they enter the 4th grade. It is Read by 4th’s mission to transform Philadelphia’s children into strong readers, so that each and every child has the opportunity to grow into exceptional learners. With the help of the Reading Captains and their brand new app, children are able to become more confident in their reading, and parents are able to be more informed about the literacy resources available throughout the city.

Transition

MilkCrate is proud to have built Read by 4th’s Reading Captain App. The Reading Captain app by MilkCrate makes it easier for volunteers to find the resources and tools to be the best literacy resource on the block by, allowing Reading Captains to learn, act, share, discover, and stay informed about future and ongoing events in the Read by 4th community.

Challenge

Prior to working with MilkCrate, The Read by 4th program was working with a 4-inch binder and paper materials to keep track of volunteer hours, and student progress.
